The Graduate.

My precious Macalicious is a baby formula graduate. He has moved from the expensive lacto-free lipil formula onto whole milk due to his coming of age. He just finished our last can of baby formula... it feels like a huge relief and a sad realization at the same time - he is no longer my little baby. It will be interesting to see how his tummy handles the milk. We are hoping he will be fine, because the lacto-free milk is $3.50 a litre and the organic whole Milk is $4 for twice that amount. I went to Longs Drugs last night to pick up a prescription for Macallum. From his well child check the doctor suggested we give him fluoride as there is none in the water here. I was okay with that suggestion after a few conversations with our neighbour, the dentist. However when I went to pick up the prescription the pharmacist questioned the dosage allotted to him. She noticed it was set as twice as much as usual for a child Mac's age. I said "Well okay, wouldn't that mean that I as his parent could only give him half the dosage" She then told me that yes, but it would mean he was missing out on the right amount of vitamins that came with it. "YOU GIVE BABIES VITAMINS HERE????" I inquired in a shocked tone. She replied in an equally shocked voice "Well Yeah!" - As though she wanted to say 'don't you know that you moron.' What ever happened to good balanced nutrition providing all that the body needs?! I see they brainwash the culture to pop a pill from the very beginning of their lives. How odd.
